Think long-term

Everything pays off in long-term or at least most things do.

The stock market, education, technical skills, relationships, anything. As lucrative as overnight success might seem, it's neither too likely nor too solid.

Sure, there are instances where people have struck gold overnight but that's a very rare case.

Most often, it's the dividend from a long-term investment that pays off the most.

Therefore, whatever you do, even the smallest thing, think about how it'll pay you off in the long-term.

There might be some cheap ways to do stuff which will pay off immediately. Believe me, they aren't worth the time and effort because they'll crumble down before you know it.

You're not gonna live for a year, are you?

You'll be walking on the planet for ages.

Why not take steps which ensures that you're able to walk and not crippled?

Think long-term and stick to your decisions.

If an activity is unlikely to pay you off in the long-term it's not worth your time.
